ShortFreeURL for Events
Badges, signage and session codes that stay correct as the schedule changes.
An event is a deadline with printed material attached. Signage goes to print before the schedule is final, badges are produced before the app is ready, and something always moves. Short links behind every printed code turn those changes into edits instead of reprints.
Codes on everything printed
Badges, lanyards, programmes, stand graphics, wayfinding and screens can all carry a QR code. Each encodes a short link, so a session that moves room or a sponsor page that changes is handled after printing.
Bulk generation creates a code per session, stand or venue in one pass, and vector export means large-format signage is printed from a proper file.
- Bulk codes per session, stand, room or venue
- SVG, EPS and PDF export for large format
- Contrast and quiet-zone checks before export
- Destination edits after the print deadline
Registration and the app
One registration link can route by country to the right currency or legal entity, and by device into the event app where it is installed, with a web fallback for everyone else. That keeps a single URL on all your material.
A/B testing between two registration pages runs behind that single link with sticky assignment, so a returning visitor sees the same page.
- Country and region routing on registration links
- Deep links into the event app with a web fallback
- A/B testing with sticky assignment
- A default destination behind every rule
Links with a lifecycle
Event links have an obvious end. Expiry by date sends late scans to recordings, next year's registration or a thank-you page. Expiry by click count fits capacity-limited sessions and offers.
Password protection covers staff-only pages and anything published before it should be public.
- Expiry by date or click count with a fallback
- Password gates for staff and pre-launch pages
- Scheduled repointing around the event calendar
- Custom 404 destination for retired codes
Measuring the floor
A link per placement makes the comparison concrete: badge codes against programme codes, entrance signage against stand graphics. The click stream shows when scans happened, which lines up directly against the session schedule.
Automated traffic is separated from human scans, which matters because event links are posted publicly and fetched by previewers immediately.
- A distinct link per placement and per session
- Scan timing mapped against the schedule
- Human and automated traffic split out
- CSV export for the post-event report
Sponsors and exhibitors
Sponsors want their own links and their own numbers. Folders or teams give each of them a space, read-only roles let them see performance without editing, and per-link permissions protect the links printed on official material.
Link bundles give the event a single page of buttons on your domain — schedule, map, tickets, recordings — with per-button stats.
- A folder or team per sponsor and exhibitor
- Read-only reporting access
- Per-link permissions on official printed links
- An event bundle page with per-button stats
Attribution through to registration
Conversion tracking joins a scan or click to a completed registration, a ticket purchase or a lead capture with a value. Because scans and clicks use the same mechanism, printed placements can be compared directly with digital ones.
The result is a post-event report that says which placements filled sessions rather than which generated scans.
- Click identifier through to registration or ticketing
- Server-side conversion reporting with a value
- Print and digital compared on equal terms
- Attribution by sponsor, placement and session
Questions
Can we print signage before the schedule is final?
Yes, if the codes point at short links. Set the destinations later and change them as the schedule moves.
What should codes do after the event?
Expire them with a fallback to recordings or next year's registration, or simply repoint them. Late scans then land somewhere useful.
Can sponsors get their own numbers?
Yes, with their own folder or team and a read-only role.
Can one link handle international registration?
Yes, with country and region routing to the right currency, language or legal entity, and a default for everyone else.
Can we compare a badge code with a programme code?
Yes, if each has its own link. The scan counts and conversions are then directly comparable.
Send the signage to print before the schedule is final.
