Terms of service
These terms are the agreement between you and ShortFreeURL. They are written to be read, not to be survived.
The agreement
By creating an account you agree to these terms, the acceptable use policy and the privacy policy, which form part of them. If you are agreeing for an organisation, you confirm you may bind it.
Your account
Keep your credentials safe and tell us promptly at security@shortfreeurl.com if they are compromised. Two-factor authentication and passkeys are available on every plan and we recommend both. You are responsible for what happens under your account, including what the team members you invite do — the roles and permissions that limit them are yours to set.
Acceptable use
You may not use the service for phishing, malware, spam, or anything unlawful where you or your visitors are. The full list is in the acceptable use policy. We may disable a link that breaches it, and will tell you why unless the law prevents us. A disabled link returns a notice page rather than redirecting, so your audience is not left guessing.
Your content, and ours
Your links, destinations, uploads and statistics remain yours. You grant us only the licence needed to operate the service — to store your content, serve your redirects and show you your own numbers. We do not use your data to train anything or to build a product of our own.
The software, the site and the brand are ours. Referring to us by name is fine; the press page covers the mark.
Plans and payment
There is a free plan, and paid plans billed monthly or annually in advance. Prices are shown inclusive of the taxes we are required to collect, and Indian customers are billed in rupees with a GST invoice.
Each plan carries limits — team members, links, domains, tracked clicks, conversions, storage, API rate and how far back statistics reach. The current numbers are on the pricing page and in your dashboard; they are the figures the software actually enforces, not marketing rounding.
The statistics window by plan:
| Plan | How far back statistics reach |
|---|---|
| Free | 730 days (about 2 years) |
| Starter | 730 days (about 2 years) |
| Growth | 1,095 days (about 3 years) |
| Business | 1,825 days (about 5 years) |
| Scale | kept for as long as the account is open |
Reaching a limit means the action that would exceed it fails with a message naming the limit. Nothing you already have is deleted because you crossed one.
If you stop paying
Your links keep redirecting. A failed or cancelled payment drops the account to the free plan and the paid features stop; published links do not break. Holding an audience hostage over an invoice is not something we will do.
Cancellation and refunds
Cancel at any time from Subscription; you keep the paid plan until the end of the period you paid for. What is refundable and how long it takes is in the refund policy.
Availability
We aim for 99.9% monthly availability on the redirect path, measured as described on the service level page, which also sets out the credits when it is missed. The dashboard and API are best-effort and deliberately separate from the redirect path, so an incident in one cannot take down the other. Maintenance is announced in advance where we can.
Uptime figures on the status page are computed from automated checks recorded by this installation, over the period the page names. They are measurements, not a promise about the future.
What we are responsible for
As the operator, we undertake to:
- Run the service and the redirect path, and tell you when we cannot.
- Keep your data confidential, apply the measures described on the security page, and hold it no longer than the privacy policy says.
- Give you a way to get everything out at any time, in a format you can use elsewhere.
- Tell you without undue delay if your data is exposed in a breach, and within 72 hours of becoming aware where the DPA requires it.
- Give 30 days' notice before adding a sub-processor, so you can object.
- Not sell your data, and not use it for advertising.
We do not undertake that the service is free of defects, that any specific third-party integration will keep working, or that a destination you point a link at will stay up.
Ending the agreement
You may close your account whenever you like. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, and will tell you why unless doing so would be unlawful. On termination we keep your data for 30 days so you can change your mind, then delete it.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, our total liability in any 12-month period is limited to what you paid us in that period, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profit or lost data you could have exported. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.
Changes
We will give 30 days' notice of material changes, in the dashboard and by email. Continuing to use the service after they take effect means you accept them.
Still have a question?
If a clause here matters to your decision — liability, data location, notice periods — ask before you sign up rather than after. We would rather explain it now.
Open a support ticket Read the documentation
The contact form opens a real ticket, gives you a reference number and a link to follow the answer — you do not need an account. Choose General question as the subject so it reaches the right person. If you already have a ticket open, reply on its link rather than starting a second one.
