What it does with ShortFreeURL
Connect a GitHub account, choose a repository, and a push webhook is installed on it. Every push that touches links.yml creates, updates or archives links on the domain you picked — links as code, reviewed in a pull request like anything else.
This suits teams where links are owned by engineering and a change should go through review rather than through a dashboard.
Setting it up
- Open Integrations → GitHub and press Connect. Approve the scopes on GitHub.
- Pick the repository and the domain links should be created on.
- Add a links.yml at the repository root with one entry per link.
- Push. The commit appears in the delivery log with what was created, updated or archived.
What data moves
- In: the contents of links.yml on every push to the repository.
- Out: a webhook registration on your repository; nothing is written back into your code.
- Auth: GitHub OAuth with repo and admin:repo_hook scopes.
Where this comes from: src/services/integrations.js (github provider) and src/routes/integrations.js (POST /integrations/github/webhook).
Questions
Does it need admin rights on my repository?
It needs permission to install a webhook on the repository you choose. It does not ask for organisation admin.
What happens if I delete a link from links.yml?
It is archived rather than deleted, so its click history survives and the short URL can be restored.
