Microsoft Teams

Post new links and alerts into a Teams channel, either with an incoming webhook or by signing in with Microsoft.

What it does with ShortFreeURL

There are two connectors and they reach the same place by different routes. The quick one asks for a channel's incoming webhook URL: you make it in Teams, paste it here, and every event you subscribe to arrives as a card. Nothing has to be registered in Entra and no administrator has to approve anything.

The other is "Microsoft 365": you sign in with your Microsoft account, we list the teams and channels you are a member of, you pick one, and messages are posted through the Graph API as you. That route needs an application registered by whoever runs this installation, so the card says so until they have done it.

Both post the same things — a link created, a domain added, an API key minted — and both log every delivery with the status code Teams answered.

Setting it up

  1. Incoming webhook: in Teams, open the channel → Workflows (or Connectors) → Incoming Webhook, and copy the URL.
  2. Open Integrations → Microsoft Teams in the dashboard, paste it with a name for the channel, and press Send test — the card appears in the channel and the delivery is logged here.
  3. Microsoft 365 instead: press Connect with Microsoft 365, approve the permissions, then press Configure and choose the team and channel.
  4. Tick which events should go out under Events, and pin it to one domain if the channel only cares about one.

What data moves

Where this comes from: src/services/integrations.js — the teams (webhook) and microsoft (Graph) providers, teamsSend() and microsoftPost(); tested in scripts/integrationtest.js.

Questions

Which one should I use?

The incoming webhook, unless you need messages to appear as a person rather than as an app. It needs no administrator and no application registration.

Can people create links from Teams?

Not today. Both routes post outward; nothing comes back in, unlike the Slack slash command.

Was this tested against Teams itself?

The code paths were tested end to end against a local server that speaks the same protocol. No call has been made to Microsoft from this build — the delivery log will show you the first real one.
